Christopher's 5th Birthday

Christopher's 5th birthday was so much fun! He was really into the planning this year--who he wanted to invite (his Sunday school class and the boys from school), the theme (rockets!), the cake (a rocket, of course), the games, and so on. It was fun to see all his excitement as we counted down the days to his birthday and his party. He and his friends had a great time!

Christopher's birthday party at school

On Christopher's birthday, I cooked his chosen dinner of corndogs and mac'n'cheese. We went out for ice cream, and then Christopher opened a rocket set, flipbooks from Daddy, lego sets and other gifts.

Christopher wanted a rocket party for his birthday. We had 14 of his friends, along with his grandparents, Aunt Laura, Uncle Garland, Caroline and Uncle Kevin at our house for the festivities. I made a rocket cake and a moon cake, and Christopher helped make a "Spaceport Entry" poster for the front door.

At the party, we started by decorating alien masks. Then the kids gathered in front of the tv to launch the party by watching the launch scene from Apollo 13. After that we played a comet dart game, had a mars rock relay race (wearing jet packs Christopher and I made), and played "3,2,1 blast off!" (a knock-off of duck, duck, goose). Christopher was so excited about all the games!

After all the games, it was time for cake and astronaut ice cream! Then Christopher opened his gifts, with lots of help from his friends.

It looks like y'all had a "blast"!!!

SO ADORABLE!

It is neat to see that at his age he took part in the "party planning".

The last picture of your dad and Christopher is SO cute!

I was beginning to wonder if you had given up blogging. Glad you're still at it.

I love the moon cake. Very creative. :)
